The In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority of Marin is a public agency that was established in 2002 by the Board of Supervisors.  The IHSS Public Authority serves low-income elderly and disabled residents of Marin who require in home care services in order to remain safely in their homes. 

The purpose of the Public Authority of Marin is to improve the lives of In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) consumers by being a resource for skilled and trained providers. Our mission is to empower the IHSS consumer by partnering them with providers to help perserve their right and ability to live at home with independence, respect, and dignity.  We pursue our mission by recruiting and training providers that are hired by the IHSS consumer to assist in daily care.  The Public Authority operates a registry of available qualified IHSS independent providers and assists the IHSS Consumer in the hiring and supervising of their care provider.
