Community accessibility expert Gary Karp offers

“Working with Someone with a Spinal Cord Injury”

at the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority of Marin

4 April 2006 -- San Rafael, CA; On Wednesday, April 5, 2006, Long time community accessibility expert Gary Karp is teaching “Working with Someone with a Spinal Cord Injury” at the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority of Marin from 5pm to 6pm. Karp is well known for his motivational stories which inspire people in wheelchairs to be active and realize their potential. All IHSS providers with IHSS consumer clients in Marin County are eligible to attend this class. The classed will be offered at the Marin Public Authority offices at 10 North San Pedro Rd., Suite 1016, in San Rafael. For more information, please call: (415) 499-1024.

 

Karp has written numerous books including “Life On Wheels: For the Active Wheelchair User” and “Choosing A Wheelchair: A Guide For Optimal Independence,” which are known as definitive guides for people with disabilities. Karp draws on his personal experience with spinal cord injury since 1973.

The In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority of Marin has been serving home care needs in Marin County and is a statewide leader in the Public Authority community. The agency is oversee by a Governing Board of eleven people a majority of whom receive some type of in-home supportive care. Their mission is to empower IHSS consumers, in partnership with providers, to preserve their right to live at home with independence, respect, and dignity.
