Urgent Backup Care program

The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority of Marin and Easy Does It Emergency Services operate an Urgent Backup Care program for recipients of the IHSS program. The Urgent Backup Care program is meant to serve recipients of the IHSS program who have an unexpected need for a care provider due to a last minute cancellation, walk out or no-show of a regular worker.

The UBC program dispatches workers supplies care providers from 8 am to 12 midnight everyday of the week including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; places workers for 2 hours minimum and 4 hours maximum; and ensures workers arrive at clients’ location within two hours of original call.

The UBC program care providers can perform a wide variety of services including:

• Domestic services that are urgent
• Dressing
• Elimination
• Feeding
• Hospice Care
• Meal preparation and cleanup
• Protective supervision
• Shopping for food
• Transferring
• Food and water for companion animals and urgent animal clean up

Easy Does It provides all services with maximum client choice and consumer control. Their philosophy is “the client is always in charge.”

IHSS Consumers are required to pre-register for the Urgent Backup Care program.
